What war crimes?

People -- please stop hassling the poor Israelis!

Yes, they keep 1.5 million people in an open concentration camp called the Gaza strip.
We killed on the order of a million in our illegal war of aggression in Iraq.

OK -- who's more bad?

The Israelis of course!

I mean think about it ...

The Israelis KEEP on the order of a million people misery ...
on the other hand.
We put on the order of a million people OUT OF their misery!

Aren't we nice!

It's kind of like with the native Americans ...
We really did try to give them religion and salvation before killing them!

So too the Iraqis ...
Where we did our very best to give them Freedom and Democracy
before we killed them.

I sure hope they are as grateful as the native americans!

Baby Deer ...

Earlier this week, walking across a field in Michigan, I startled a very small baby deer, or fawn, in the tall grass -- he started running ... and the dogs were after him ... and I ran to try to save him.

The fawn was very small -- smaller than canines ...

Leo the dog was on him, and had him in his mouth, and the fawn was crying when I got there and fought him off of the fawn.  With Leo out of the way, I now between him and the fawn, Nashoba came up and gently touched noses with the fawn ... they stayed that way for a bit, and then the fawn then again got afraid and started running ... and again I was chasing the dogs and fighting them off ...

If it were just Nashoba, my wolf, there wouldn't be a problem.  He listens and is very gentle with other animals ... but Leo is not gentle ... he is a killer ...

Fortunately, some adult deer showed up to help me [its parents?] ... perhaps it was only one ... but the large deer would run into the bushes and brush where Leo was hunting the fawn, and then Leo would come out of the brush chasing the adult ... this cycle went on a number of times before I got Leo under control ... I think he had completely run out of energy!

I hope the fawn was OK -- I think he was.

Afghanistan -- Our longest war -- Almost over???

Good thing that it is reported that things are getting better in Afghanistan -- in our country's longest war.

Just the data ... I'll let the reader decide ...
[Data extrapolated in 2010 taking the ratio of 2010 data as of 15 June to 2009 data].

1.5 times as many soldiers have been killed since the Nobel Peace Prize President took office than in the first 8 years of the war ...

Fatalities this year are up a factor of 2 over last year ...

We have over 100,000 troops [not counting civillian contractors] and our Secretary of Defense is making the rounds of European capitals, with his hat in his hand, desparately trying to find 300 military trainers for the Afghanistan army ...

Inflation

The "Official" Gulf Oil Spill continues to increase ...
From 0,
to 1,
to 5,
to 15.5,
to 30,
and now 47.5
thousands of barrels per day ...

I wonder what the real oil spill rate is?

The rate of increase of the official estimate continues to accelerate.

Creativity

Let's see ...

The U.S. has had 3 rounds of sanctions against Iran.
And, the U.S. says, these have not worked.

So, what is the solution?

Another round of sanctions ...

Hmm.

One thing sanctions are good for is a prelude
to war.

Sanctions didn't work against Iraq either ...
All those sanctions and still we had worries about their WMD.
With Iraq we finally gave up on sanctions and had a war.
This was the only way we could prove that there were no WMD,
and thus prove that we didn't need sanctions or a war ...

Swimming across the lake

Went with my wolf and dog to the lake around sunset – they were nagging me about taking them someplace for fun. So I decided I would take them to the lake, sit on my rock, and since I hadn’t yet meditated today, meditate.
While walking along the shore to my rock I thought, “really, what would be better, sitting and meditating, or swimming across the lake?”

Here it is June and I haven’t yet once swam across the lake ...

Why?

Not the water temp -- I've swam in April and my crazy brother MikE  and my crazy Russian friend Boris swam in November, after a Thanksgiving Day Feast [and lot's of vodka] in November with snow falling ...

No, it was my fear of the canines.

I go swimming and then they follow, and swim to me, with their front legs, equipped with nice long claws, going 500 miles per instant, and I come out with a zillion long welts and cuts, half steaming blood thinking, “Well, this swim wasn’t quite as relaxing as I had envisioned”.

I recalled with longing Wolfie who would just sit on my rock, guard my clothes, and patiently wait for me to return ...

So, I stood on my rock for about 5 minutes, trying to envision this swim – I decided I would viciously fight them off and every time I pushed them away, or kicked them, say “NO” and it would be OK.

So I dove in ... Leo followed and attempted to save me with his claws and mouth ... Nashoba stayed on the shore whining. I fought Leo off, pushing him, saying “NO” and kicking him and trying to swim ... he followed me a third the way across the lake and then turned back to shore.

I relaxed. Life it good! and enjoyed swimming on my back looking up at the clouds.

After awhile I turned to survey my location and found I was about 3/4 the way across and then saw Leo was coming again across the lake after me, this time with reenforcements – he was bringing Nashoba, my wolf!

I panicked! I swam as fast as I could hoping to make it to the far shore before the attack began!

And I just made it!

Wow -- this was the first time Nashoba swam across the lake!  With his webbed paws, he's an excellent swimmer, even faster than Leo, but he prefers not to swim.

We stayed for awhile, and I let the boys catch their breath, and then headed back, fighting them off, now two of them, as best I could. About 1/3rd the way across, thinking we were all going to drown, they abandoned me and swam for the far shore, and now I could again enjoy my swim.

Finally back at my rock, I surveyed the damage. Looking at my legs I saw more than a dozen 6 or more inch long welts, many bleeding along their length.  Wonder what my back looks like?!

Wow, I thought, this is getting much better! The least damage I’ve ever sustained! This is going to be a good summer!

Censure Israel???

Some might say that the Israeli IDF committed piracy and murder in international waters followed by cries of “we, poor we, were attacked, ambushed, lynched even, by terrorists with sticks and stones!!!”.

But, what can the U.S. say? Can we call this state-sponsored terrorism? The Israeli commandos dropped from U.S.-supplied Blackhawk helicopters, and the U.S. does not sell arms to terrorists. Ipso facto – this was not state sponsored terrorism. Terrorist, by definition, are the people we and Israel kill.

What can we say about their war crimes, as detailed in the Goldstone report, in attacking Gaza 2 days after Christmas in 2008. The U.S. did not speak out against this action and blocked U.N. Security Council action. And looking at it logically, we can point out that the Israeli war on the Gaza civilian population was really not so bad at all compared to what we, the U.S., did in Fallujah.

What can we say about their illegal blockade of Gaza? Again, the U.S. has strongly supported this action. And again, imprisoning close to 2 million people in concentration-camp-like-conditions is not really bad at all, as war crimes go, compared to our illegal war of aggression on Iraq, based on a pack of lies, which killed millions. As most would agree, imprisonment is vastly more humane than killing.

So why is everyone picking on Israel? They kill a few thousand; so what? We kill millions.

Let’s just stop and think for a moment –

Do we want to call Israeli’s action piracy and murder, or sing the praises of brave young Israeli Defense Forces acting in self defense while protecting Israel from “peace activists” with ties to Muslim extremists and terrorists? Do we want to call our Iraq invasion an illegal war of aggression, the ultimate war crime, resulting in the death of millions, or an important action to rid the world of WMD’s and spread democracy and freedom, or in Obama’s Egyptian speech, merely a “war of choice”.

We must continue supporting Israel – and telling the world that it needs to concentrate on important issues, such as forgetting about the non-existent WMD in Iraq, and focusing on sanctions and possible military action with regard to the non-existent nuclear weapons in Iran.

So, let’s all just relax, take our blue pills, and perhaps pat ourselves on the back and pass around another Nobel Peace Prize, maybe this time to the U.S. Military Industrial Complex, for promoting peace and security and spreading freedom and democracy around the world, particularly in the Mid East.
